Unmarked burials are at this site per genealogy research conducted by JoAnn Cook Anderson that include: 6 children and Jessie Cook Sr, and Minnie Cook Laenger. The last communication with LA DEPT of ARCHAEOLOGY in October 2012 indicated that they were UNSUCCESSFUL in contacting the landowner, Lee A. Jeter, Sr., Executive Director, Fuller Center for Housing NWLA, Building Homes, Building Lives, 318-221-7474.
Is there new construction slated to begin January 23, 2013 at or near the Cook Family Cemetery? - Caddo Parish abt. 2213 Freewater Street, Shreveport, LA.
First recorded by LA DEPT OF ARCHAEOLOGY 2010 - 1883 --- James Cook bought two acres from Charles Allemand in section 5, township 17, range 13, Caddo Parish 1890 --- James Cook received 10 acres of land as his inheritance from his father, Thomas Cook. This land is the NE ¼ of the SW ¼ of the NW ¼ of section 5, township 17, Range 13, Caddo Parish 1892 --- James Cook bought one acre of land from George Cole in the NE corner of Lot 9, Cook’s subdivision, which was in the NW ¼ of Section 5, Township 17, Range 13.
